Since Anna took part in Eurovision 2006, I think it is appropriate to state some news about Eurovision 2007.

Greece: ERT decided to sent Tamta in Helsinki; complications appeared

ERT has decided to sent Tamta in the 52nd Eurovision Song Contest. This is published by eurovision.gr and confirmed from next to ERT sources to oikotimes.com. The choice though seems to have some complications: two factors are still not confirmed. The first is that there is a rumour (not confirmed by any way) that the decision was not unanimous. The second issue is the citizenship of Tamta. We do not understand the problem though why she needs a citizenship while ERT can determine if the performer will be a Greek citizen or not based on the EBU rules.

It seems that the Greek media will no be friendly towards the choice of a foreign singer for Greece for basically sentimental reasons and also because Greece is full of singers. Already though the TV station dealing the most with the contest, Star Channel is more than friendly with the Georgian singer. Tamta participated two years ago in the first Super Idol version in Greece where she came 2nd in the final. Since though her Eurovision duet with Mihai Traistariu and her Greek edition of "Ftais" it seems her stocks are risen high!

It was oikotimes.com in association with Espresso Newspaper published the news weeks ago on the web and media. After two months the news once again confirmed. Minos EMI Greece was approaching ERT on Tamta. How the selection will proceed? It seems that Minos EMI and ERT will start seeking songs and therefore a complete internal selection for the song will apply. Unless the Greek broadcaster says otherwise, there seems unlikely (at the moment) to have a national song selection.

ERT denies that Tamta is confirmed!
Exclusive: "No decision in Greece"


ERT has told esctoday.com that the rumours appearing on the internet that Tamta has been confirmed as Greece's representative at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest is news to them also! ERT have said that at this stage, no decision has been taken, and when it is confimed, they will be announcing their participant through a press conference in Athens.

Head of the Greek Delegation, Stella Gliana spoke to esctoday.com today and said that she had approached the administrative department to find out the latest news, but that ERT had as yet not decided on any artist to represent them at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki.

Greek websites eurovision.gr broke the news that Tamta had been confirmed last night, and the story spread to fellow greek website Oikotimes soon afterwards. Partner site, Oikotimes have since backtracked on their news, updating their article to advise readers to 'read with caution'. The news remains unconfirmed and according to ERT is "likely to prove incorrect".

Tamta is a resident of Greece that moved from Georgia. She would be Greece's third non-Greek born singer in a row should she be selected to represent the 2005 winners of the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. Helena Paparizou, who won the competition for Greece was born in Sweden of Greek descent. 2006 entrant, Anna Vissi is actually Cypriot.

Και εμενα η Εurovision πια δεν με ενδιαφερει. Αρχισαν ηδη να λενε διαφορα για την Ταμτα αντι να κοιταξουν να την στειριξουν, και τι θα ακουσει ακομα.
